Paintball Sports Promotions

Paintball Sports Promtions (PSP), is an American national tournament series that travels throughout the United States each year. It is regarded as one of the most popular paintball leagues. The PSP held five events throughout the United States each year. Teams compete according to skill level classified into separate divisions. Divisions are distinguished in ascending order as: Division IV (D4), Division III (D3), Division II (D2), Division I (D1), and Semi-Professional/Professional (Challengers and Champions divisions). The season generally starts in March and ends with the World Cup in October; the NXL has back-filled where the PSP left off and created its own series and World Cup event under their new format and rules.

As of 2013, a regulation PSP field is 150 feet long by 120 feet wide. Inflatable bunkers of differing shapes and sizes are placed on the field in mirrored symmetry with a flag in the center. Each end of the field has a start area containing a penalty box. Each team consists of five players.
A player is eliminated when they are hit by a paintball that breaks on any part of the body or equipment. Upon elimination the player must place their gun behind their start station and go to their team's deadbox. If a player fails to acknowledge a hit they run the risk of being given a penalty of varying intensity.
As of June 2013, the PSP has introduced a new penalty box for the professional bracket.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://socialpaintball.com/2013/06/20/psp-introduces-new-fort-penalty-box-video/ )〕 The new penalty box consists of three flat bunkers that form an enclosure. It has 2 doorways, one on each side, with the front blocked. Unlike the traditional penalty box which has a single opening in the front, this new version prevents the penalized player from seeing any action on the field of play. The enclosure also prevents opponents from seeing which side he will be exiting from.
